Beloved Daytime Soap Opera Actress Passes Away at 82, Leaving Fans Heartbroken

A Broadway star has passed away. Jennifer Harmon, known for her many appearances on Broadway and in soap operas, including How to Survive a Marriage, has died at the age of 82.

News of Jennifer Harmon’s death was confirmed in a brief obituary. She was born on Dec. 3, 1943, in Pasadena, California, and landed her first major television role in the soap opera How to Survive a Marriage in 1974 and 1975.

She later went on to star in One Life to Live, where she played Cathy Craig Lord from 1976 to 1978. Her performance earned Harmon a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 1978 for her work on One Life to Live.

Harmon also appeared in several other soap operas, including Another WorldLoving, and Guiding Light. However, it was on Broadway where she would truly become a major star. Over the course of her career, Jennifer Harmon appeared in 21 Broadway productions.

Some of her Broadway credits included The School for Scandal in 1966, as well as its 1995 revivalBlithe Spirit in 1987The Little Foxes in 1997Amy’s View in 1999; and The Glass Menagerie in 2005. Her final Broadway appearance came in 2011, in Other Desert Cities.

Harmon also worked as an understudy for several major stars, including Stockard Channing, Judi Dench, and Jessica Lange. Her additional television credits included DallasLaw & Order, and The Good Wife.
